Slinky Exploration - Waves
MOTIVATOR
Rod Cross demonstrates how dropping a Slinky from a given height will make the lower part literary hover until the rest of the spring joins it. This is due, as Cross goes on to explain, due to the tension in the spring which cancels the gravity and thus makes the lower part hover until the potential energy difference information can be transmitted.

TASK 1 -
Go to GOOGLE CLASSROOM. Find the Slinky Science presentation shared with you. One person from your group needs to open this and share it with your team. Everyone has the template but I only need one. You don't need to share it with me because I shared it with you first. The directions within the presentation template are self-explanatory.
This presentation has two parts. Look over the entire thing first and plan your time wisely. You may divide up the work load as necessary.
Lab Part 1 - Making Waves
- explore transverse and longitudinal waves using a Slinky toy.
- answer questions and upload images in a google presentation.
Lab Part 2 - Slink Walking
- explore the movement and momentum of a slinky as you decide the correct angle to achieve the best walk using an inclined plane.
